Context

Where this work happens

The Virtual Learning Lab studies how technology can support self-regulated learning and improve outcomes in K–12 classrooms. Its current flagship is Storiza, an AI-powered digital literacy platform for elementary-age readers, built by roughly thirty people across nine research projects. As Lead Developer I direct the technical architecture behind that platform, which means my research and my engineering work feed each other directly: a study design becomes a feature, and the feature produces the data for the next study.

Everything on these pages was built to be used by actual students in actual classrooms, not only demonstrated in a paper.
